Ric Flair Had “Same Match Every Night” Says WWE Hall Of Famer

Ric Flair is considered by many as one of the greatest wrestling stars of all time but a fellow WWE Hall of Famer does have one criticism of The Nature Boy’s in-ring career.

Flair is one of the most acclaimed wrestlers in history with sixteen world titles to his name over a career that spanned six different decades.

Speaking on Jake Roberts’ Snake Pit podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase gave his thoughts on Ric Flair’s in-ring skills, saying he thinks Flair had the same match over and over again:

“I’m not knocking Ric at all but, a lot of times, if you watch Ric Flair work enough, it’s almost like he has the same match every night.”

DiBiase and Roberts then added that they enjoyed tailoring a match to the crowd reactions they received each night with The Million Dollar Man adding:

“It’s an acquired skill. Listening to the crowd, it’s like you just know. And when you really got them and you know they’re there, you know when to go, and let’s take it home.”

Jake Roberts gave his analogy for putting a good wrestling match together, likening it to making a pot of soup:

“You got potato, you got the stock, you got the meat. All it needs is a little salt and pepper, you know? That might be a heat spot, or a comeback spot, whatever. And you just keep adding it and building it. Add it and build it. … [By] the time the soup’s f***ing ready, let’s get it out of the pot and into the bowls.”
