Ric Flair Shares His Idea Involving John Cena If Charlotte Flair Breaks World Title Record
Ric Flair has an idea that he thinks would draw a big audience some day if or when his daughter Charlotte Flair sets a record.
Charlotte Flair became a 14-time Women’s Champion when she won the Smackdown Women’s Title on December 30th. That counts her title wins on the WWE main roster including her reign as the Divas Champion as well as Raw and Smackdown Women’s Titles.
That number of 14 title reigns in WWE also puts Charlotte at just two more major championship wins behind the 16-time World Championship record that is held by Ric Flair (Charlotte’s father) and John Cena.
In Ric’s case, two of his World Title reigns happened in WWE while others were in the NWA and WCW. Ric also believes he had more title reigns that were not officially recognized, so the 16 title reigns is the number that fans know.
When it comes to John Cena, all 16 of his title reigns happened in WWE between 2005 and 2017 whether it was the WWE Title or the World Heavyweight Title.
While speaking on his To Be The Man podcast, Ric Flair and co-host Conrad Thompson talked about Raw’s great ratings with 2.3 million viewers, which was the highest audience in over two years. Ric presented an idea for what should happen if Charlotte gets the record for most title wins in WWE history.
“If they [WWE] ever want to get a 2.3 again, which they will, but I can guarantee you a 2.3, I could almost guarantee you a 3 if it was advertised, if John Cena and I were gonna meet [Charlotte] in the ring to congratulate her on breaking our record.”
As he continued, Ric Flair was asked about being Charlotte’s dad and if that’s how people react to him these days.
“First of all, I am Charlotte’s dad right now. I’m telling you, you talk about moments that make TV, for me and John, and I know John very well, John would be honored to shake her hand. The three of us in the ring together, you talk about a moment in sports, that’s an ESPN Top 10 highlight.”
That led to Ric Flair talking about Charlotte’s number of title wins.
“First of all, you gotta’ get to 15. Boy, if she gets to 15, and I mean if she loses it and wins it back again, she’s got plenty of time. She’s in the best shape of her life. I know I’m a braggadocios father. She came back fresher than ever, it’s the best thing that ever happened. I’m just so happy, and she’s happy as can be, and the company’s happy.”
