Ric Flair Compares A Charlotte Flair Rivalry To One Of His Own
There is nobody that is a bigger fan of Charlotte Flair than her own father, which is why Ric Flair is comparing one of her greatest rivalries to one of his.
Ric Flair’s incredible career in pro wrestling saw him wrestle the biggest names in the history of the business like Hulk Hogan, Harley Race, Sting, Triple H, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, and perhaps his greatest rival of them all, Ricky Steamboat.
While the 16-time World Champion (if you ask him, he had more than that) Flair wrestled Steamboat many times in their careers, their rivalry over the NWA World Title in 1989 stands out the most as they had a series of five-star level matches that fans still talk about to this day.
Charlotte Flair has had her own incredible career in WWE over the last eight years. Charlotte is the most decorated champion in WWE history as a six-time Raw Women’s Champion, a six-time SmackDown Women’s Champion, a two-time NXT Women’s Champion, and she was the last Divas Champion as well.
While talking about Charlotte on his “To Be The Man” podcast recently, Ric brought up Sasha Banks as his daughter’s greatest rival which is similar to what Ric had with Steamboat.
“[Sasha Banks is] Still young. I hope that she gets back into the business. I mean, she has plenty of time but, you know, to me, I keep telling [people] she’s Ricky Steamboat and Ashley is me, that doesn’t get any better when the two of them work. There’s not a better female match ever, anywhere, anytime. I don’t have a problem saying this. They are the two premier female wrestlers that I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”
Ric Flair saying he hopes Sasha “gets back into the business” is because Sasha has been away from WWE since May when she walked out with Naomi due to not being happy with the company’s creative direction. There is no word on when or if Sasha may return although she has posted on social media about training in a wrestling ring.
As for Charlotte Flair’s future, she has been off WWE television since May’s WrestleMania Backlash event where she lost the Smackdown Women’s Title. Since then, she got married to AEW’s Andrade El Idolo and there are rumors that she will be back very soon. There’s no official date on when that return might happen.
