Ric Flair Claims AEW World Championship Match “Set A New Bar”
Ric Flair has heaped praise on the critically acclaimed AEW World Championship match between Bryan Danielson and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page at Winter Is Coming, saying the two stars have set a new bar in wrestling.
At AEW Winter Is Coming, Adam Page finally got his hands on the man who, in recent weeks, has been making good on his promise to kick in the heads of the AEW Champion’s friends in The Dark Order, Bryan Danielson.
In the opening match of the show, the two men went to war. The ‘American Dragon’ controlled much of the bout, making Page bleed and injuring his shoulder as the match wore on.
Towards the end of the one-hour epic, fans jumped to their feet when Page laid Danielson out with a Buckshot Lariat. However, as ‘Hangman’ tried to crawl over and get the pin, the bell rang signalling that the time limit had expired, ending the match in a draw.
One man who is no stranger to hour-long draws is the legendary ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair. During his time as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Flair regularly competed in lengthy ties with the likes of Ricky Steamboat, Magnum TA, and Kerry Von Erich.
Reacting to the AEW Championship match on Twitter, Ric Flair praised both competitors, saying they “set a new bar”.
“I’ve Done So Many Hour Draws, Some Great, Some Average! Tonight, You Gentlemen Set A New Bar!! The Wrestling World Can Learn From @theAdamPage & @bryandanielson! CONGRATULATIONS! WOOOOO! @AEW #AEWDynamite”
