Rey Mysterio Gets Huge Reaction At UFC Event

Rey Mysterio WWE

Rey Mysterio remains as popular as ever.

The latest cross-promotion between WWE and UFC took place at UFC Fight Night on February 24th. During the show, Rey Mysterio was shown in the crowd to a monster ovation from the Mexico City faithful.

In the main event, Brandon Royval defeated Brandon Moreno to avenge his TKO loss in 2020.

The appearance from Mysterio was the latest in an ever-increasing line of crossover between the two companies since they merged under the TKO Group banner.

Montez Ford, Bianca Belair, and CM Punk all appeared at UFC 298, while Michael Chandler was in the crowd at the February 19th episode of Raw.

Rey Mysterio Closing On WWE Return

Rey Mysterio has been out of action since November when it was revealed he would need surgery to fix a long-standing knee injury. At the time it was reported that the Lucha legend would be back in the ring quickly, but as yet he hasn’t returned to television.

However, according to a recent report, Rey Mysterio is “pretty close” to making his comeback.

During his absence, Mysterio signed a new contract with WWE, believed to be for three years. The star had initially claimed he would retire at 50, but his new contract takes him beyond that landmark.

Mysterio is widely credited as one of the most influential stars of the last 30 years and continues to be one of the most popular wrestlers on the planet.
