Rey Mysterio Discusses His Plans For When He Retires From Wrestling
Rey Mysterio opened up about what life will look like when he finally hangs up his wrestling boots.
WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio has spent decades in the world of professional wrestling, and at the age of 48, he’s still going strong. Not only is Mysterio a fixture on SmackDown as part of the LWO, he’s also the current United States Champion after he defeated Austin Theory for the title on an August episode of SmackDown.
While Mysterio is still impressing in the ring, the star is approaching his 50’s, and certainly has more matches behind him than in front of him. Speaking to Kevin Hart on Cold As Balls, Mysterio opened up about the idea of retiring and what he wants to do once his time in the ring is through. According to Rey Mysterio, it’s important that he give back to his wife Angie after her decades of support.
“I think, more than anything, to give some time back to my wife, who has put her career on the line and her time to raise two kids to support me to let me pursue my dream. The rest of my lifetime, I just want to be able to enjoy the show with her.” (h/t Fightful)
Rey Mysterio Got Help From Carlito At Fastlane
WWE Fastlane on October 7th saw Rey Mysterio team with Santos Escobar to take on Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits. With Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro out of action, Mysterio and Escobar were at a disadvantage, starting the match as a 2 on 3 bout.
Midway through the match, Carlito made a return to the company for the first time since Backlash back in May, scoring the pinfall victory for his team. Carlito has been under WWE contract for a number of months.
