Report Offers Fresh Update On Chris Jericho As WWE Speculation Mounts

Chris Jericho AEW

Chris Jericho continues to be linked with a return to WWE.

Internet speculation was sent into overdrive in recent days after Chris Jericho hinted on social media that he’d be open to returning to WWE. The veteran liked a post on Instagram suggesting he could head back to WWE when his AEW contract expires.

Jericho has been absent since walking out on The Learning Tree back in April, and it’s believed that his contract runs out in December 2025.

This was followed by a report that claimed there’s a “lot of talk around Chris Jericho” within WWE, with suggestions that he could feature at the 2026 Royal Rumble. Dave Meltzer added that while there’s been no official comment, a return to WWE at this stage of Jericho’s career would make a lot of sense.

What Next For Chris Jericho?

However, according to a new report from Fightful Select, things might not be as cut and dried as some fans believe. As noted in the report, Jericho’s name hasn’t been brought up around WWE’s creative department in any capacity.

But that hasn’t stopped talents speculating about his potential arrival, with a higher-up confirming that the veteran remains on good terms with the company. Another source suggested that it’s too early to tell regarding a return.

Jericho’s most recent run with WWE took place between 2012 and 2018, although he also wrestled exclusively for the company between 2007 and late 2010, only going on hiatus due to non-wrestling commitments.

During his third run with the company, Jericho won the United States Championship twice before working with NJPW and later signing with AEW in 2019.

Back in June 2024, Chris Jericho said he “hadn’t really thought about” returning to WWE. In an earlier interview, he stated that he didn’t care if he was never inducted into the Hall of Fame, as he doesn’t understand it.
