Report Disputes Claims AEW TV Deal Has Been Agreed

Tony Khan AEW

According to a new report, no deal exists between AEW and WBD.

Since AEW launched in 2019, it’s enjoyed a strong relationship with Warner Brothers Discovery, airing Dynamite and Collision on TNT and Rampage on TBS in the United States.

However, with the existing media rights deal between the two parties expiring in 2024, talks have been running for months concerning a new agreement. Although most observers expect a deal to be thrashed out, it’s believed the exclusivity period between AEW and WBD has now expired.

Despite this, SEScoops reported on July 23rd that an “agreement in principle” was now in place. The report noted that according to TV industry insiders, the deal would see the promotion’s content head to the MAX streaming platform – that would include the company’s pay-per-views of which there will be nine in 2024.

But, it seems things aren’t quite that simple.

AEW Boss Tony Khan Set For Meeting With David Zaslav

As reported by Fightful Select, while a deal between the two sides is expected, one hasn’t been agreed. Sources close to WBD suggest there’s nothing “imminent,” which in this case means “in the next few days.” Furthermore, the framework of a deal has not been agreed by both parties.

However, things remain amicable, and the relationship between AEW and WBD is expected to continue.

Tony Khan and WBD boss David Zaslav are scheduled to be in Paris for the Olympics, and a meeting has been planned for months.

Other sources noted that while an offer has likely been made, an agreement is yet to be reached.
