WWE has been making major changes at a senior level in recent months, not least with the return of Vince McMahon to the company’s Board, but one recent departure was not planned.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported that the Senior Vice President of Talent Operations & Strategy, James Kimball, had been fired by WWE due to a Human Resources violation. No information was made as to what the violation was but Kimball was let go effective immediately.

It was noted by Fightful that Kimball had been with WWE for the past two years. Kimball worked on the NIL (Next In Line) program that hopes to recruit the best college athletes to the company and he had worked for UFC for a decade prior to his switch to WWE in 2020.

Fightful Select has now issued an update on Kimball’s firing noting that an “HR violation” is a broad term and doesn’t necessarily mean anyone else was involved although this has still not been confirmed. An unnamed WWE star noted that Kimball’s firing was “shocking” and that Kimball had worked closely with Triple H during his time in the company.

There was surprise noted by other stars and many felt that the relationship between the sports entertainment behemoth and James Kimball would be one that endured for many years. It was also emphatically stated in the report that the firing had nothing to do with Vince McMahon.
