Reason Behind 41-Year-Old WWE Star’s Long Absence Revealed
Despite signing a new contract in October, a WWE star has yet to appear on TV.
Santos Escobar’s contract expired on October 6. Amid reports of his joining AEW, he re-signed with the Stamford promotion a couple of days later.
Sources close to the company claimed that Escobar received a pay hike, although that was not his primary concern.
The 41-year-old had informed the higher-ups that he needed to be a part of meaningful storylines, something which the creative team has been working on.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez revealed that WWE is committed to putting Santos Escobar in the spotlight.
I know he signed a new contract, and I know it was a very big contract. Whatever you think about WWE booking, they’re not gonna sign this guy to this kind of money and not push him. WWE believes, ‘We actually need a real idea for this before we bring him back.’
Alvarez then claimed that the promotion granted him his wish of a personal meeting with Triple H, following which the new deal was made.
I know one of his requests with his new contract was that he wanted a personal meeting with Triple H to discuss his future plans. So they’re gonna come up with something and give him a big push. [H/T: Ringside News]
