Raw Star Gets Their Name Back
With the new regime fully in place at the top of WWE, the changes keep coming as a Monday Night Raw star reverts back to their original name.
Name changes had become a staple of Vince McMahon’s WWE, with stars either losing first or last names or losing their previous name altogether, even if it was one they used in NXT. One star to find themselves a one-name wonder was former WWE United States Champion Riddle. However, that is no longer the case.
Matt Riddle was a star in NXT and he kept his full name when he graduated to the WWE main roster initially but in October 2020 that changed when he lost his first name to be simply Riddle.
On Raw in Pittsburgh, Riddle was set to go face-to-face in an interview segment with his current nemesis Seth Rollins. However, footage was shown of the two men confronting each other earlier in the day, and with the threat of physicality hanging heavy, their interview was instead conducted on a split screen with both stars in different locations.
To the surprise of many, the banner on Riddle’s screen named him as Matt Riddle, indicating that he will be going by this name again going forward. Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle will go one-on-one in Cardiff at Clash at the Castle.
