Raquel Rodriguez Confirms Mast Cell Activation Syndrome Diagnosis
Raquel Rodriguez has lifted the lid on her recent WWE absence.
In a post on social media, Raquel Rodriguez revealed that she’s been diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS).
The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology defines MCAS as the following:
“MCAS is a condition in which the patient experiences repeated episodes of the symptoms of anaphylaxis – allergic symptoms such as hives, swelling, low blood pressure, difficulty breathing and severe diarrhea. High levels of mast cell mediators are released during those episodes.”
In a short video explaining her new diagnosis, Rodriguez explained how the condition has affected her.
“So long story short, last year I posted a video about being a WWE superstar with eczema. In the month of December, it got progressively worse and I have been diagnosed with something called mast cell activation syndrome. Basically, I was red, swollen, there was a lot happening in this area physically,” she said, motioning around her face.
“It kept me from doing the things that I love like traveling, going to the gym and wrestling. I also didn’t want to be on camera, I didn’t want to look in the mirror.”
Rodriguez went on to thank her family, friends, and fans for helping her through the difficult period.
“Thank God I moved back to Texas when I did because I have the best support system in the world during this time, which is my family. I’m so grateful to them and for everything they have done for me, and to you guys as well, who have sent me kind messages and reminded me that I didn’t have to go through this alone.”
When Did Raquel Rodriguez Last Wrestle?
Raquel Rodriguez hasn’t wrestled since being defeated by Nia Jax at a live event on December 3rd. Her most recent televised match came on the November 20th episode of Raw where she was again defeated by Jax.
The star is a former NXT Women’s Champion, while Raquel Rodriguez’s most successful run on the main roster came when she teamed with Liv Morgan.
