Positive Update On Ex-WCW Star Steve McMichael Amid Serious Health Battle

The family of Steve McMichael has shared some positive news.

On February 15th, Steve “Mongo” McMichael was admitted to the hospital with suspected pneumonia. In a short statement, a family spokesperson asked fans for their prayers during the difficult time.

McMichael was admitted to the same hospital back in August with sepsis and pneumonia. The former NFL star has battled a number of health issues in recent years, announcing he’d been diagnosed with ALS in 2021.

Thankfully, McMichael appears to be responding to treatment for MRSA after it was confirmed he required a blood transfusion. In a new social media update, it was revealed that McMichael could be back home as early as Tuesday.

Great news – Mongo is feeling better and he’s responding well to the antibiotics. The hope is to have him back at home on Tuesday. Please keep sending up your thoughts and prayers for Steve and his family. 🙏🏽

Steve McMichael Loved By Both NFL And Wrestling Fans

After an impressive athletic career in high school, Steve McMichael found great success in College football, graduating as an All-American, and eventually being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2010.

McMichael was drafted by the New England Patriots in 1980 but was cut after just one year. However, he went on to have a glittering career with the Chicago Bears, which included winning Super Bowl XX.

After calling time on his career, the former defensive tackle took his first steps into pro wrestling with the WWF before signing with WCW in 1995.

During his time with the company, “Mongo” appeared in storylines with many of the biggest names the promotion had to offer. He spent much of his early run as part of the Four Horsemen and wrestled stars such as Goldberg, Jeff Jarrett, and the British Bulldog.

The star was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in early 2024.
