“Not A High Level Of Confidence” For CM Punk & Chris Jericho’s Meeting

Chris Jericho & CM Punk

CM Punk’s return to AEW has been a hot topic for the company in recent weeks with the star set for a meeting with Tony Khan as well as Chris Jericho in the near future.

Jericho and Punk have publicly lashed out at each other since the All Out backstage fight that has seen CM Punk missing from the company ever since. However, both men are scheduled to be part of a meeting as the company looks to find a way back into the company for Punk.

Wade Keller of PWTorch discussed the proposed meeting and notes that there’s not a huge amount of confidence that it’s going to lead to a positive outcome:

“Among the people I’ve talked to, there’s not a high level of confidence that the meeting is going to go well, that it could make things worse, but maybe not. Maybe things will work out.

“But people who have been around Punk, know Punk, know people who have known Punk for a very long time, are not optimistic that FTR mediating a meeting between Jericho and Punk is going to lead to progress.”

Keller also noted that Chris Jericho is considered a “close confidant” of AEW boss Tony Khan and it remains to be seen just what the meeting will throw up.

A date for Punk’s return to the company has been reported with a summer of Punk possibly kicking off again in his hometown of Chicago.
