No Meeting Scheduled Between The Elite & CM Punk
There were rumors regarding a possible meeting between The Elite and CM Punk, but it has been denied by Bryan Alvarez.
For well over a year now, there were well-known issues between former two-time AEW World Champion CM Punk and The Elite’s Kenny Omega, Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) and “Hangman” Adam Page.
In the spring of 2022, CM Punk and Hangman were in a feud over the AEW World Title that was held by Hangman at the time. Punk beat Hangman for the AEW World Title at Double or Nothing in May 2022. Hangman went off script in a promo, Punk really didn’t like that and they had issues since.
When CM Punk did an interview in June with ESPN he said that Hangman “poisoned everything” in their spring 2022 feud. Clearly, their issues never went away.
Meanwhile, it was just about one year ago when CM Punk got into a locker room fight with The Elite’s Omega and The Young Bucks. That led to Punk’s friend Ace Steel being fired as a Producer due to his involvement in the fight. Omega left that fight with an arm bite from Steel while Nick Jackson had a black eye.
The situation between the two sides was so bad that Punk was kept on Collision while The Elite were on Dynamite. Since Punk got fired on Saturday, The Young Bucks finally made their Collision debut this past Saturday night.
The Elite Never Planned To Meet With CM Punk
There was a report from Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling claiming that The Elite and CM Punk were going to meet before AEW All In London, which took place last Sunday. Hausman reported that The Elite called it off while Punk wanted to have the meeting. Due to the meeting being called off, apparently that upset CM Punk going into the All In show.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Radio reported that there was no meeting planned.
“The story came out today that like a week ago a meeting was planned with CM Punk and The Elite, they were all gonna sit down. There was no meeting planned and when The Elite was approached about the meeting, they said no. That’s the story.”
