NJPW Event Cancelled Due To Typhoon Warning
Due to Typhoon Nanmadol, NJPW has canceled their Burning Spirit event that was slated for Sunday.
The south of Japan is where the typhoon is expected to make landfall, forcing the cancellation of Burning Spirit that was scheduled to take place at B-Con Plaza in Deppu. Fans that were planning on being in attendance can get refunds here.
NJPW did announce, however, that their shows scheduled for September 19th in Fukuoka and September 21st in Kumamoto are still on at the current moment, but things could change at any moment due to Nanmadol.
One of the big matches that were set for Burning Spirit was a tornado dog cage survival match, which was also going to feature the NEVER Six-Man Openweight Tag Team Championships up for grabs. Currently, YOSHI HASHI, YOH and Hirooki Goto hold the titles, and they were booked to defend them against House of Torture’s SHO, Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL.
Other matches featured Kazuchika Okada teaming up with Tomoaki Honma and Togi Makabe to square off against Shane Haste, JONAH and Bad Dude Tito, with the main event set as a ten-man tag team elimination match between KUSHIDA, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Toru Yano, Tama Tonga and Jado vs. Doc Gallows, Taiji Ishimori, Gedo, Jay White and Karl Anderson.
Will Ospreay, Hiromu Takahashi, David Finlay, Great-O-Khan, Kenta, SANADA, Zack Sabre Jr., Tetsuya Naito, Taichi and Jeff Cobb were also slated to appear at NJPW’s Burning Spirit.
NJPW kicked off their Burning Spirit events on September 2nd and will continue through September 25th. Afterward, NJPW has Royal Quest II on the schedule, which is in London for two days on October 1st and 2nd. Royal Quest II will feature AEW’s FTR defending their IGWP Tag Team Championships against Aussie Open.
