Nikki Bella Working On Bringing Back WWE Legend After 3 Years
Nikki Bella is still pushing behind the scenes.
Back in June, it was reported that WWE was in talks with Brie Bella regarding a comeback, but she later suggested that the company had yet to contact her.
Those comments led to speculation that the star could return for Evolution, but the event came and went without her. Despite that interest, Brie Bella later claimed there was a roadblock preventing her from making a comeback, namely her husband, Bryan Danielson’s role with AEW.
Brie hasn’t wrestled since making a cameo in the 2022 women’s Royal Rumble match, while her most recent ‘proper’ match took place in 2018.
During a new interview with The Takedown on SI, Nikki revealed that she’s still working to get Brie back in the ring, adding that the WWE women’s division also wants her back.
“I keep pushing it. All the women want her back, and they keep asking me every week, has that decision changed.
I don’t think legacies should be determined on spouses, but I also understand business.”
In reference to those comments from Brie about Bryan Danielson’s AEW affiliation getting in the way, Nikki said that it’s now less of an issue than it had been previously.
“I do think [WWE is] becoming more and more open to it. I understand it takes time, and we just have to figure things out. There’s so much business to figure out, and Brie and I both completely understand that.”
Nikki Bella To Challenge For WWE Gold
With her sister still on the sidelines, Nikki Bella will challenge Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at Clash In Paris. The match marks the first time that Bella has challenged for singles gold since facing Ronda Rousey at Evolution back in 2018.
As the rivalry between Lynch and Bella has developed, things have become increasingly heated in recent days and weeks. This saw things come to a head on Monday Night Raw in Birmingham, England.
During the segment, the champion took a strange shot at the late Ozzy Osbourne and his hometown, which landed flat with the audience. The comment drew huge criticism online, with Osbourne’s daughter Kelly hitting back at Lynch and the company.
It’s since been reported that WWE could issue an apology for Becky Lynch’s comments after being left “embarrassed” by the situation.
