Nigel McGuinness Wants One More Match
Nigel McGuinness hasn’t given up hope of lacing up his boots one more time.
Despite being long retired, Nigel McGuinness was linked with a match at All In against Bryan Danielson. While the match didn’t come to pass, and Danielson missed the show through injury, it seems that the fire still burns for McGuinness.
Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross praised McGuinness for his work as an announcer, before revealing that the British star wants one more match.
“I enjoy working with Kevin Kelly and Nigel,” Ross said. “Nigel’s getting really good. Not that Kevin isn’t but Nigel is kind of a newcomer in that world and he’s doing a great job. I enjoy working with him. He’s fun, he’s a good guy.
I know he wants to have one more match somewhere down the road and I hope he gets it. I saw online the other day Connie, where Bryan Danielson said he and Nigel would be a hell of a match at Wembley (ALL IN).”
When Did Nigel McGuinness last Wrestle?
While Nigel McGuinness has been an announcer for several years, he’s still better known for his time as a wrestler which reached a peak in Ring of Honor. Across two stints with the promotion, McGuinness became ROH World Champion, finding fame with his battles with Bryan Danielson.
The star almost joined WWE in 2009, but a deal fell through due to injury. McGuinness then signed with IMPACT before briefly returning to the UK and ultimately retiring in 2011. After calling time on his in-ring career, he returned to ROH where he served as an announcer from 2011 until joining WWE in 2016.
The British star was released by WWE in October 2022.
