AEW Star Teases Ending Retirement For Bryan Danielson Bout

Bryan Danielson is leading a violent charge in AEW with the Blackpool Combat Club as he looks to be more dangerous than ever but one star could be persuaded to come out of retirement for a huge match with The American Dragon.

AEW caused a sensation recently when they announced that its long-awaited London show was going to take place in the 90,000+ seat Wembley Stadium in August. The announcement was made by Tony Khan, Adam Cole, and recent signing Nigel McGuinness who hails from the English capital. McGuinness has not competed since 2011 but one bout could tempt to him to lace up his boots again.

Speaking to Stephanie Chase, Nigel McGuinness commented on what it would take to come out of retirement for one more match at Wembley Stadium and says he’d need to go up against someone like The American Dragon, Bryan Danielson:

“Obviously it would have to be someone like Dragon, given our history and the true story that’s there. I think the best stories, the best angles in wrestling always have that undercurrent of reality. And it’s just so real there, it’s just so real and it’s so honest and authentic, and nuanced as well in a sense, it’s not just as simple as a good guy and a bad guy.

“You can understand, you can identify with both of our journeys as well, very different journeys you know. We were once in the same direction and now gone on completely different paths, but there’s a lot of emotion there to establish.

“And even if that means me just being on commentary for a match of him as well, that’s certainly there to play out.”

No matches have yet been announced for AEW All In with the event still four months away but the company will be sure to pull out all the stops for the event and could have one of their biggest stars back by then in the form of CM Punk – although some talent are believed to still be unhappy by Punk’s impending return.
