Vince McMahon will always do what’s best for business, so says WWE CEO Nick Khan.

Vince McMahon’s return to WWE has been met with tons of rumors, speculation, concern, theorizing, and reassurance. Fans have wondered how much influence he will exude over the company now that he is executive chairman.

WWE took steps to assure people that Vince doesn’t affect WWE’s creative and that his day-to-day involvement centers on working on a potential sale of the company.

However, there are enough people that think that Vince McMahon’s mere presence in WWE is a bad sign. The number and severity of lawsuits against him both appear to be mounting, which is leading to questions on how long he’ll actually stick around.

Determined to address these matters, Nick Khan took the time during the company’s 2022 fourth quarter earnings call to assure shareholders that Vince McMahon would indeed depart WWE if his presence impeded or hindered a potential sale in any way.

“Yes. Without question. He’s declared it to the board. He’s declared it to us in management. It’s all about shareholder value. Obviously, he is a shareholder. So it’s not about what role he’ll have. It’s about maximizing that value opportunity.”

Nick Khan also described what he considers the most important attributes in a potential buyer: someone that understands the media business, that understands the WWE product/IP, and that has deep pockets.
