New WWE Star Working In Backstage Role

WWE Shawn Michaels Triple H NXT

A recent WWE addition is already working behind the scenes.

Back in February, Shawn Sears made a surprise to WWE, attacking Ridge Holland and instantly making his presence felt in NXT. Since then, Spears has wrestled regularly on television and live events, but that’s not all he’s been doing.

According to a new report from Corey Brennan via Fightful Select, Spears has been shadowing NXT producer Johnny Moss. The former AEW star took on the role for the April 16th episode of the show and played a role in producing both women’s matches on the show. The report adds that Moss is well-liked within NXT as both a coach and producer.

It’s unknown whether Spears will make a full-time switch to producing.

Shawn Spears had been with AEW since 2019, before becoming a free agent on January 1st, 2024. Prior to heading to AEW where he was known as ‘The Chairman’ after attacking Cody Rhodes with said piece of furniture, Spears enjoyed a popular run in WWE as the ‘Prefect 10′ Tye Dillinger.

Nick Khan Gives Update On WWE WrestleMania Plans

Speaking at the SBJ World Congress of Sports, WWE President Nick Khan ruled out the possibility of WrestleMania leaving North America. Khan explained that WWE’s “big five” Premium Live Events will remain in the United States or Canada, with other events being held internationally.

There had been hopes WrestleMania would be held in the United Kingdom in the near future with John Cena adding to the speculation with his special appearance at Money In The Bank in London in July 2023.

WWE’s next Premium Live Event, Backlash, will come live from Décines-Charpieu on May 4th. The company will then head to Saudi Arabia for King & Queen of The Ring the same month, Scotland for Clash At The Castle in June, and then Bash In Berlin in August. The sports entertainment giant will only return to North America for Money In The Bank in July.
