Naomi Shockingly Retains Women’s World Title At WWE SummerSlam
Naomi successfully retained the Women’s World Championship at WWE SummerSlam.
Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY have been involved in a storyline for several months. While The Genius of the Sky dethroned The Eradicator before WrestleMania 41, the latter failed to recapture the title at the Show of Shows in a Triple Threat match that also included Bianca Belair.
The two superstars squared off in another Women’s World Championship match at Evolution, Naomi shockingly cashed in her Money in the Bank contract to make it a Triple Threat and leave with the title.
Naomi Shocks Rhea Ripley at WWE SummerSlam
It was later announced that Naomi would defend her title against Ripley and SKY at SummerSlam. As the match kicked off Night 2 of the premium live event, The Eradicator and The Genius of the Sky allied against the champion. Their alliance, however, was short-lived after Ripley accidentally hit the Japanese star, giving Naomi the advantage.
While the champion dominated the first part of the match, the momentum later shifted to her opponents, who exchanged control over the fight. Ripley was even close to winning the bout after hitting a Riptide on the real-life Bloodline member. However, SKY broke the three counts at the last second.
After a hard-fought battle, Ripley delivered a devastating Riptide to SKY from the top rope. As she went for the pin, the champion surprisingly rolled The Eradicator to pin her and retain the Women’s World Title.

Ripley was shocked by the result, complaining to the referee that Naomi grabbed her tights as she pinned her.
