Naomi Fires Back At Reports Regarding Her Future
Naomi – also known as Trinity Fatu – has not been seen in a wrestling ring since walking out of WWE in May 2022 but she has disputed a report that shed light on why she hadn’t been picked up elsewhere.
Naomi and Sasha Banks walked out of WWE in May 2022 while they were both WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. However, since then Banks has been reborn as Mercedes Mone and is the current IWGP Women’s Champion in New Japan Pro Wrestling but Naomi remains out of action.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the reason Naomi hasn’t been picked up for NJPW or Stardom came down to both company’s parent organization Bushiroad’s finances:
“The hard part about a longer commitment (to Mone) is that Bushiroad’s wrestling division, even though Stardom has grown greatly, has overall taken a major financial hit because of New Japan’s declines related to the pandemic, even with New Japan World up.
“Because of that, the wrestling division is under pressure to keep spending down. An example is that they were told they could bring in Trinity Fatu, but it was felt it would cost too much for the return and thus far hadn’t made that deal.”
However, Naomi herself has taken to social media to counter that claim, simply writing “not true” over the report.
