The Multi-Million Dollar Deal Behind MJF’s Shock AEW Return

MJF AEW

MJF had not been seen in AEW since losing his AEW World Championship at Worlds End but at Double Or Nothing, that all changed.

Double Or Nothing kicked off with Will Ospreay winning the first gold of his AEW career when he defeated Roderick Strong for the International Title despite the best efforts of the Undisputed Kingdom.

Despite his friend’s loss, Adam Cole seemed to be in good spirits when he made an impromptu appearance on the show to signal that he might be close to returning to the ring after his long layoff due to a broken ankle. However, Cole was soon interrupted by a video package hinting at someone he used to call his best friend being on his way and that turned out to be the case as MJF made his surprise return to AEW.

The last time AEW fans had seen MJF was at Worlds End when Adam Cole turned on him after Samoa Joe captured the AEW World Title. Cole formed his Undisputed Kingdom group featuring Mike Bennett, Matt Taven, Roderick Strong, and Wardlow after revealing himself to be The Devil that had tormented MJF for months.

MJF wasted no time in kicking Cole below the belt when the came face-to-face in Las Vegas before cutting an impassioned promo which made clear that despite rumours otherwise, he was here to stay in AEW.

MJF On Multi-Million Dollar AEW Deal

Fightful Select has now given more details on MJF’s return and noted plans had been in the works for it to happen for some time with Double Or Nothing as the target date throughout. Despite his claims to need shoulder surgery, there has been no confirmation he has actually gone under the knife and he is said to have told some in the industry, that he was trying to throw people off the scent of his return by wearing a brace.

MJF is in AEW long-term and on a multi-million dollar per year contract. As part of his return there is said to be major creative plans for him to be part of a top feud in the company.

Most of the AEW roster believed MJF was returning to the company at Double Or Nothing but nobody was confirming that they had seen him ahead of his comeback. The surprise element of his return was to the extent that MJF was believed to have been flown to another city out west and driven to Las Vegas for the show.
