Montez Ford Set For Singles Push
It would seem that Montez Ford could be set for a major singles push away from tag partner Angelo Dawkins following Money In The Bank.
There were a couple of clear singles pushes on the Money In The Bank premium live event, including Theory being added to and then picking up the victory in the men’s showpiece match.
It was also a successful evening for Liv Morgan, who took the briefcase in the women’s match to kick the show off and wasted little time making her decision, cashing in on Ronda Rousey win the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Now there are reports that Montez Ford, who was on the losing side at Money In The Bank, could be set for a singles run in the company.
On the 1st July edition of Friday Night SmackDown, The Usos made reference to the fact that “there have been rumors you guys haven’t been getting along”, indicating that there could be a split in the future for their opponents on Sunday night.
Dave Meltzer discussed on Wrestling Observer Radio how the references over the last few weeks on how Montez Ford has bulked up his physique, coupled with the comments from The Usos, would be a good indication that a singles run is imminent for Ford. He noted that WWE management “are very high on him [Ford] right now, especially with his new physique.”
The Usos defeated The Steet Profits at Money In The Bank to retain the undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships, however there was some dispute in the result after it was shown in a replay that Montez Ford’s shoulder came off the canvas before the referee hit the mat for the third and final time.
