MJF’s First AEW Title Challenger Revealed

MJF

MJF is the AEW International Champion and he now knows his challenger when he takes the title south of the border to CMLL.

The 250th edition of AEW Dynamite kicked off with a match worthy of a pay-per-view main event as Will Ospreay put his AEW International Championship on the line against MJF. While many expected that match to take place at All In, it seems Tony Khan has a plan for his current AEW booking that saw Dynamite stacked with huge matches.

As the one-hour time limit neared its end which would have meant a draw and Will Ospreay retaining his title but following the referee being taken out, MJF used his Dynamite Diamond ring to clock the champion and pick up the pinfall victory with just two seconds left on the clock to become the new AEW International Champion. And now the champion is living up to the title’s name.

MJF’s Challenger Confirmed

CMLL revealed that MJF was heading to Arena Mexico for the first time ever to defend his International Title on August 2nd and now his challenger has been revealed.

The Mexican promotion held a one-night tournament including Esfinge, Flip Gordon, Rugido, Stuka Jr., Valiente, Zandokan Jr., Templario, and Averno for a shot at MJF’s gold and ultimately it was Templario who defeated Averno in the final to claim that match.

Chris Jericho will be heading to CMLL for the promotion’s 91st Anniversary show on the 13th of September where he will do battle with Mistico.
