MJF And Will Ospreay Go One Hour In Controversial AEW Dynamite Match

A nearly one-hour match on AEW Dynamite between MJF and Will Ospreay had an ending that will upset many fans.

The 250th episode of AEW Dynamite took place in Little Rock, Arkansas as Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) challenged Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship.

After the two men entered the ring to start the match, they went on to compete for just under 60 grueling minutes in front of a vocal crowd that chanted “this is awesome” many times throughout the match.

There were a lot of big moves from both guys during the hour-long bout leading to many pin attempts. Ospreay was favoring a right leg injury early in the match and later, he was feeling a lot of pain in his left shoulder. There was even a moment when AEW’s ringside doctor Dr. Sampson had to pop Ospreay’s shoulder back into place.

In the final minute, Ospreay lifted MJF for a move, but then he stopped himself from doing the Tiger Driver because Ospreay said in the past that it was too dangerous. MJF shoved Ospreay into referee Bryce Remsburg, who bumped into the ropes. MJF put the Dynamite Diamond Ring on his hand and punched Ospreay in the face. The referee never saw it because he was down against the ropes. The clock was ticking down as MJF covered Ospreay with his arm across Ospreay’s chest and referee Remsburg counted the one…two…and three!

The official match time was 58:58 meaning that MJF beat Ospreay for the AEW International Title with two seconds to spare before the 60-minute time limit expired.

It was a controversial finish because Friedman blatantly cheated with the Dynamite Diamond Ring on his right hand, but the referee never saw it, so Friedman was able to leave with the International Championship.

The loss for Ospreay was also the first time he had ever lost a match on AEW Dynamite. He had been 9-0 previously.

How Many Championships Has MJF Won In His AEW Career?

The AEW International Championship is the second singles championship that Maxwell Jacob Friedman has won in All Elite Wrestling. MJF also held the AEW World Title for a record 406 days and he’s also the youngest man to hold the AEW World Title.

Friedman is also a former ROH Tag Team Champion with Adam Cole.
