MJF Faces AEW Absence After Worlds End
MJF suffered a double heartbreak at AEW Worlds End and now it seems the star is set to take some time off.
MJF was dethroned as AEW World Champion by Samoa Joe at Worlds End bringing his record-setting title reign crashing to an end.
Worse was to come for MJF, however, as he was confronted by The Devil’s masked men after the bout. Adam Cole joined his best friend as they ultimately begged the masked men to leave the other alone. The lights went out, however, and when they came back on, Adam Cole revealed himself to be The Devil. The masked henchmen were Roderick Strong, Wardlow, Mike Bennett, and Matt Taven. The Kingdom’s Bennett and Taven were the ones who dethroned MJF for the ROH Tag Team Championship.
MJF Set For AEW Absence
Fightful Select has now reported that MJF needs to heal up with many expecting the former AEW World Champion to be off TV for a while. His absence is believed to be starting immediately or almost immediately, meaning he could have another appearance of Dynamite before his time away.
MJF was said to have suffered from several injuries during his AEW World Title reign but he wanted to see it through to its conclusion.
The Salt of the Earth’s contract situation with AEW remains contentious with MJF adamant that he has not signed a new AEW deal with his current one expiring on January 1st, 2024. The wider belief within AEW, however, is that he has re-signed and will remain with the company going forward.
