MJF Breaks Silence On AEW Contract And Interest From WWE

MJF AEW

MJF is back to shake things up.

MJF made a stunning return to AEW at Double or Nothing, brutally attacking Adam Cole, getting a measure of revenge on the star who betrayed him in 2023.

Once back in front of the cameras, the Salt of the Earth sent a warning to the rest of the AEW locker room and screamed from the rooftops that he wasn’t going anywhere. The pronouncement ended speculation around the “bidding war of 2024” and confirmed the former World Champion wouldn’t be heading to WWE.

In the days after his return, it was reported that MJF had signed a new contract, although there’s no word on how long the deal will last.

During a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Mr Friedman confirmed there was interest from WWE, but he declined to get into the details.

“Of course there was,” said Friedman. “Am I going to get into the weeds? No. At this point in time, this move made the most sense for me.

I’m making a ton of f—— money. As far as when the contract ends, that’s nobody’s business but my own.”

MJF Tips Hat To Mentor Cody Rhodes

Later in the interview, MJF recalled fans chanting his name during an appearance from Triple H on The Pat McAfee Show ahead of WrestleMania 40 as Cody Rhodes stood on the brink of the World Championship.

“Cody Rhodes is a mentor of mine,” said Friedman. “I f—— love the guy. I love the Rhodes-a-coaster. But when Triple H is doing an interview on one of the biggest sports shows, whose name were they cheering in the background? My name. I’m not just the biggest star in AEW. I’m one of the biggest stars in the history of the f—— business.”

It’s been announced that MJF will return to Dynamite on June 5th.
