Miro Reportedly Declined Creative Idea That AEW Pitched To Him
Miro has been absent from AEW for a long time and he apparently shot down an idea that was pitched to him.
Since his AEW debut in September, Miro (formerly known as Rusev in WWE) has only wrestled in 29 matches in over two years. While his run in AEW has included a TNT Title reign in 2021 that lasted for 140 days, he hasn’t wrestled much in 2022. In fact, Miro has only wrestled four matches in AEW this year.
A recent update from Fightful Select noted that Miro’s absence has nothing to do with injury or lack of wanting to perform. The Fightful story noted that there haven’t been creative plans available for the former TNT Champion known as “The Redeemer” to AEW fans.
Miro’s last appearance prior to All Out on September 4th was at Forbidden Door on June 26th meaning he’s only wrestled one match in the second half of 2022.
In an update on the Miro story, a fan on the Wrestling Observer’s “The Board” wrote this comment about Miro: “It is completely ridiculous creative has nothing for this guy.”
That led to the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer responding to the fan by saying that there was a storyline pitched to Miro, who didn’t want to do it.
“That was completely untrue. There was a creative idea for him. He didn’t want it. They moved on until after the PPV. They are talking new ideas right now.”
“His idea was better than what Ethan Page got as far as where he’d be pushed, and Page didn’t get his idea but the difference is Ethan Page was seemingly on board with being the guy who wins a bunch, talks a bunch, and sets up the guy getting the title shot in the end. And that’s why he was all over TV.”
It is currently unknown when Miro will return to AEW television.
