Mildred Burke Biopic Trailer Released (Video)
The trailer for Mildred Burke biopic “Queen of the Ring” has been released.
The movie features appearances from AEW’s Kamille who plays June Byers, and Toni Storm and Britt Baker, while Emily Bett Rickards takes on the role of Burke.
Jim Ross also serves as an Executive Producer.
As noted by Variety:
The true-life tale follows Burke as she defies incredible odds to become the first million-dollar female athlete and longest reigning champion at a time when wrestling was banned across most of America.
Despite her success throughout the ’40s and ’50s, Burke’s journey is marked by personal struggles, including raising her son on the road, the tragic death of her wrestling protégé in the ring and a tumultuous relationship with her manager and ex-husband, Billy Wolfe (Lucas).
The film is based on the book “The Queen of the Ring: Sex, Muscles, Diamonds, and the Making of an American Legend,” by award-winning author Jeff Leen.
WWE Stars Replaced In Mildred Burke Biopic
Back in May 2023, it was reported that Charlotte Flair and Liv Morgan would be working on the film, but within months, those plans had changed.
By July an updated report claimed WWE had “got involved” and the deal involving Flair had fallen through. Morgan had originally been cast as Clara Mortensen but “things changed.”
Flair has been out of action since December 2023 after suffering a serious knee injury, however, she’s expected to be back in the ring very soon.
