Mick Foley considered having a final match with one of the biggest stars in All Elite Wrestling.

The last time WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley competed in a wrestling match was the 2012 Royal Rumble. The wrestler who threw him out of that match? Current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

While speaking on his podcast earlier in 2024 and in interviews, the 59-year-old Foley said that he wanted to have one more blood, hardcore-style pro wrestling Death Match in the year that he turned 65 years old in 2025. However, in April 2024, Mick Foley put an end to those plans due to his history of concussions and health issues.

One active wrestler who wanted to have the Death Match with Foley was the “Indie God” Matt Cardona, who used to be known as Zack Ryder in WWE.

Mick Foley Wanted To Have Final Match With MJF

The “Hardcore Legend” Foley was at the Nickel City Comic-Con (via Fandom Spotlite) as part of a panel recently and he revealed he had a plan with former AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) about a final match. Foley also took a bit of a shot at Cardona as well.

“Man, when I was thinking of having that last match, I’ll tell you what, when I announced that intention, there were no shortage of people from every promotion reaching out to me and one guy I probably would have gone with because he’d clearly done some thinking about it and lined out six great weeks of TV was MJF.”

“We didn’t take a photo together because we didn’t wanna ruin the secret meeting but, I heard what he had to say, I really liked it. I had no doubt that he would have pulled it off perfectly and you know, he’s so good and in his prime that he could have worked around my weaknesses and played to my strengths and I think we could have done something pretty cool. MJF. Final answer. Take that, Matt Cardona (Foley laughed).”

There’s no word on whether Foley and MJF would have done the match in AEW or if they had some other place in mind.
