Major Update On Michael Cole’s WWE Future
Michael Cole will remain with WWE for the foreseeable future.
It was in 1997 when WWE hired Michael Cole. At the time, Cole had no experience working in pro wrestling. Cole was a guy who had experience as a legitimate news reporter. In WWE, he became a guy who was doing backstage interviews at a time when the Attitude Era was just beginning. Over the next couple of years, he became a play-by-play guy and was the voice of Smackdown for most of the 2000s decade.
Over the last 27 years, Michael Cole has solidified himself as the “Voice of WWE” and a man that many people might consider to be one of the best play-by-play announcers in wrestling history.
In present-day WWE, Cole is having a lot of fun on the Raw brand with broadcast partner Pat McAfee and Coel also handles play-by-play duties for WWE PLE shows like SummerSlam on August 3rd in Cleveland.
Cole was featured in an article by Bryan Curtis of The Ringer, who reported in the story that Cole signed a new deal in the spring with WWE to remain with the company for the foreseeable future. They did not mention how many years the deal was for.
Michael Cole Feels Comfortable In WWE Now
While talking about how he feels about his performances in WWE now, Cole spoke about how is more comfortable than ever.
“The first 24 years, Michael Cole was out here, I was playing a broadcaster. The last three years, Sean Coulthard, … that’s who you’re seeing.”
“That personality I’m bringing out now is who I really am. I’m bombastic. I’m sarcastic. I’m a prick. But I’m also a hell of a good broadcaster.”
Elsewhere in the article, Michael Cole recalled times when he would get in Vince McMahon’s face about things his former boss wanted him to say on air.
