Mercedes Mone Told Her Career Was Over After Brutal Injury

Mercedes Mone

Mercedes Mone has defied expectations to return to the ring.

At NJPW Resurgence on May 21st, 2023, Mercedes Mone took part in a mini tournament to determine the inaugural NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion. The CEO defeated Stephanie Vaquer in the first round, going on to face Willow Nightingale in the final later in the night.

Unfortunately, disaster struck when Mercedes Mone suffered an ankle injury that has left her out of action ever since. With her return nearing, Mone has discussed the injury and revealed that she was told it would end her career.

During a recent appearance on Kicks Rocks, the star said she screamed at her doctor and surgeon when they broke the news and vowed she would be back.

“I’ve been working so hard to get back to this place that I love. Little do people know, I was told this is a career ending injury. I screamed at my doctor and surgeon and said, ‘No, it’s not.’ I’m going to come back really soon and I’m going to have the greatest time, the greatest matches, the greatest career that I’ve had yet. I see it. I feel it. I know it.”

Mercedes Mone Expected To Make AEW Debut At Big Business

Mercedes Mone is widely expected to make her AEW debut on March 13th. On that date, AEW Big Business will take place at the TD Arena in Mone’s hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. The company has dropped several hints that Mone will appear at the show, including hiding the word “Bo$$ton” in the background of the event poster, a clear nod to the star’s old ‘Boss’ nickname in WWE.
