Mercedes Mone Eyeing Up Another AEW Championship

Mercedes Mone

Mercedes Mone wants more.

2024 has been a banner year for not only Mercedes Mone but the entire AEW women’s division. Although there were some early stumbles and continued teething problems, fans have routinely praised the presentation of the division, while on a personal level, Mone has become one of the biggest stars in the company.

While Mone holds the TBS Championship, and the NJPW Strong Women’s Title, AEW’s main female-led storyline saw Mariah May turn on her long-time friend Toni Storm, before pinning her to win the Women’s Title. And although their paths are yet to cross in the ring, it seems Mone has been keeping tabs on the British star.

During a new interview with Raj Prashad of Uproxx Sports, Mone said that while she’s proud of May and her progress to date, she’s got her eye on the AEW Women’s Title.

“I am super proud to watch from afar. She came in as a super fan, just loving wrestling, loved it so much that she moved from England to Japan, trained out in Stardom just to hone her craft, and now she’s here. She is our women’s world champion, beating Toni Storm in one of the best storylines in women’s history.

So to see her rise this fast and to see how good she is in the ring, it’s so incredible. Like I said, we have the best women’s division in the game right now. I’m definitely looking at the title that she has around her waist,”

Mercedes Mone To Headline Non-AEW Event

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that Mercedes Mone will headline NJPW Strong Style Evolved on December 15th. On the show, Mone will defend her NJPW Strong Women’s Title against Hazuki.

Mone won the title back at Forbidden Door with a win over Stephanie Vaquer.

Several other AEW stars will also be in action with Lio Rush, Grizzled Young Veterans, Jack Perry, and Konosuke Takeshita all looking to end 2024 on a high.

In the co-main event, Gabe Kidd will put his NJPW Strong Openweight Championship on the line against Ryohei Oiwa.
