Mercedes Mone Challenged To Huge Double Title Match

There are plenty of people who want to step in the ring with Mercedes Mone, but one in particular has gold to put on the line in a double title match.

It wasn’t a particularly well kept secret when Mercedes Mone appeared at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom in January 2023, laying down a challenge to KAIRI for the IWGP Women’s Championship. Mone would go on to win the title and has yet to be defeated.

Whilst there have been plenty of challengers, including Saraya touting Mone as a potential opponent for AEW’s All In at Wembley Stadium, a Japanese star has laid down a challenge and is willing to put her championship belt on the line at the same time.

In an interview with Tokyo Sports, Wonder of Stardom Champion Giulia laid down the gauntlet to Mercedes Mone.

I’m the current leader of women’s professional wrestling in Japan. I want to face each other and have a double crown match with Mone. If Mone fights Giulia, the whole world will be paying attention.

The interview was later retweeted by the We Are Stardom Twitter account, and Mercedes Mone also responded.

Mone will defend her title for only the second time against Mayu Iwatani at Stardom All Star Grand Queendom on the 23rd of April in what will be the last match of Mercedes Mone’s current NJPW contract. However, there has been speculation that she is in negotiations for an extension to the current deal.
