Mercedes Mone Behind Major Ex-WWE Name Joining AEW
Mercedes Mone has already caused some changes in AEW.
On February 21st, it was announced that former WWE writer Jen Pepperman had signed with AEW. Pepperman only left WWE a week earlier having been with the company since 2017.
The former writer and producer is officially AEW’s new Vice President of Content Development.
Interestingly, it seems the move has been linked to the impending arrival of Mercedes Mone. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer likened the relationship between the pair to that of The Rock and Brian Gewirtz.
“When she quit last week, I was actually told by WWE that they expected that she would be in AEW very soon, because of her connection with Mercedes. As Mercedes’ personal writer like Brian Gewirtz is for Dwayne Johnson (The Rock).”
Mercedes Mone is expected to debut with AEW on March 13th, while it’s been reported that she’s already on the payroll.
When Was Mercedes Mone With WWE?
Mercedes Mone signed with WWE back in 2012, going on to become one of the famed Four Horsewomen. After moving to the main roster in 2015, the star known as Sasha Banks established herself as one of the biggest names in the company.
However, by May 2022 the relationship between Mone and the company had deteriorated and she walked out of a Monday Night Raw taping alongside tag team partner Naomi.
Pepperman worked closely with Mone while they were both with WWE, and the star is believed to be Pepperman’s favourite wrestler.
