Mauro Ranallo Returning To Wrestling

Mauro Ranallo WWE

After much speculation, Mauro Ranallo is returning to professional wrestling.

Announcer Mauro Ranallo is best known for his time with WWE where he called the action on SmackDown between 2015 and 2017, before working in NXT. The broadcaster eventually left the company in 2020. Prior to that, he had previously worked for NJPW.

Ranallo’s time with WWE was hit by controversy in 2017 when he briefly left the company as rumours of bullying by JBL swirled. However, he later released a statement denying this was the case.

Since his departure, Ranallo has briefly stopped off in TNA while continuing to work in MMA and boxing. In March, it was reported that Mauro Ranallo could be returning to wrestling with MLW, and while that hasn’t proven to be the case, he is still making a comeback.

Mauro Ranallo Linking Up With Scott D’Amore

On August 9th it was announced that Scott D’Amore will be relaunching the famous Canadian promotion, Maple Leaf Wrestling. The grand old promotion can trace its roots back to the 1930s, before rising to prominence under the guidance of Frank Tunney. When Frank died in 1983, his nephew Jack took control of the promotion before it was absorbed by WWE in 1984.

The venture marks D’Amore’s first steps back into pro wrestling since being fired by TNA back in February. As the relaunch nears, more details on the company’s presentation have been confirmed.

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, D’Amore revealed that Ranallo will be the promotion’s announcer. The former TNA boss said he was “stoked and honored” to have Ranallo onboard.

“Mauro Ranallo has agreed to be the voice of Maple Leaf Pro. He’s the man. Mauro has passion for wrestling. I’m so stoked and so honored. The fact that he’s willing to say, ‘Yeah, I want to be part of this,’ to me, is unbelievable. He’s the man. He’s so good,”

Maple Leaf Wrestling will relaunch with two special shows on October 19th and October 20th.
