Matt Riddle Admits Other WWE Stars Can Find Him Disrespectful
Former WWE Raw Tag Team Champion Matt Riddle has discussed other stars finding him disrespectful in interviews, although he says they eventually come around to his style.
With his laid-back, stoner persona, Matt Riddle has become one of the most popular acts on WWE Raw and gets some of the biggest audience reactions on Monday nights.
During interviews, however, he can become a lot more serious at the flick of a switch and has no problems calling out anyone he has an issue with.
Infamously, this has included the likes of Goldberg, which resulted in a backstage confrontation between the pair at SummerSlam in 2019.
Speaking to Corey Graves on his ‘After The Bell’ podcast, Matt Riddle admitted that this interview style can often lead to other stars perceiving him to be “extremely disrespectful”.
“But a lot of times, I’ll say stuff, especially in interviews like this. And guys, like Roman, guys like Brock, guys like Seth, guys, especially the talkers, guys like Randy.
“They’ll hear what I say, they hear how I talk, and they find me extremely disrespectful, and they don’t like it.”
However, the Orginal Bro says that once he is able to work with those stars they realise it’s just his way of creating a buzz.
“Then they work with me, they get to know me that, oh, you’re just like trying to hype everything up and like, get buzz.
“I’m like, yeah, because that’s our job. I want people to think I really hate people and people really hate me. So I can sell tickets to this fight. That’s what I want.
“Because if I don’t, nobody’s gonna show up and I’m useless and I don’t have any value. That’s how I look at it.”
Matt Riddle will next be in action at Extreme Rules on October 8th. There, he will challenge Seth Rollins inside a Fight Pit with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier appearing as the special guest referee.
