Update On Matt Riddle’s Schedule In WWE
Matt Riddle is back in WWE after several months away and it appears as though he’ll be a busy man now that he’s back in the company.
The December 5th edition of WWE Raw saw Matt Riddle team up with Kevin Owens against The Usos. Riddle and Owens lost the match while Riddle was attacked after the match by Solo Sikoa, who used a steel chair as part of the attack.
In reality, Matt Riddle failed his second drug test in WWE, which led to a rehab stint and a 60-day suspension. The company never publicly announced the drug test or his rehab stint, but that’s why he was off TV. Instead of bringing Riddle back in February or March, WWE chose to wait until after WrestleMania 39.
On last Monday’s Raw, Riddle interrupted The Miz and dropped him with a Bro Derek slam.
This past Friday on Smackdown, Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion Sami Zayn was in action against his former friend Jey Uso. Zayn lost to Jey because Solo Sikoa got involved without the referee seeing it. Matt Riddle showed up on Smackdown as well, this time to assist Zayn from a cheap attack. It made storyline sense since Riddle was attacked by Solo back in December, so he was trying to get revenge for that as well.
In an update on Riddle’s future, PWInsider Elite reported that Riddle is considering back full-time and is “pretty much on every Raw, Smackdown and live event going forward” since he is back in action.
As for his on-screen persona in WWE, Riddle made it clear that he’s going to take a more serious approach to things this time around.
“Before I left, I beat Seth (Rollins) in a Fight Pit Match in the main event of Extreme Rules. Instead of kinda keeping that ride on, I kinda went back into goofy Riddle mode. And I feel like this time around, it’s still me, I’m always gonna be me, but I wanna bring a more serious side to it.
“You know, I’ve been working out a lot, I’ve been training a lot of jiu-jitsu. I just got my black belt. And I wanna really showcase my skills and my expertise and show the world I’m also one of the top fighters in the world and I can take anybody on in this company.”
On tonight’s episode of Raw, Matt Riddle will face The Miz in singles action.
