Mark Henry Talks Working With “Egotistical” WWE Star
AEW star Mark Henry has spoken out about politics in wrestling, revealing that he “hated working with” one of his opponents because of it.
Before joining AEW as an onscreen talent and coach, Mark Henry spent 25 years in WWE. While there, he was a member of the Nation of Domination, became the suave Sexual Chocolate, fathered a hand, and captured multiple titles including the ECW and World Heavyweight Championships.
However, despite his veteran status in the company, Mark Henry was not immune to backstage politics.
On a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, The World’s Strongest Man discussed the issue and revealed that he ended up hating being in the ring with one particular wrestler because they always wanted to get their own way, going as far as sitting outside Vince McMahon’s office to talk him round.
“But some people are egotistical in their lobbying for or politicking for their… getting over. I’m not going to mention his name, but there was a guy that I just hated working with because I knew every time he wanted to look as strong as I was, and I would always say, ‘Okay, I’m stronger than you, I’m bigger than you, this is what we’re gonna do as it relates to working around my strength and I’ll put myself in a place, but you know, [the other person would say] I should bump you before we go into the heat.’”
“And I’m like, ‘No, you shouldn’t. How about this?’ And then you start, but they will go to Vince [McMahon] and they would sit outside Vince’s office and they would wait [to talk to McMahon].”
