Malakai Black’s return to AEW could be coming soon based on a recent video posted to social featuring other members of his stable.

Malakai Black has had an interesting 2022 as the leader of the House of Black group that was rumored to be leaving AEW, but then he vehemently denied that was going to happen.

At AEW All Out on September 4th, after losing a match, Black saluted the crowd with a bow and a kiss that led to speculation that maybe he was leaving the company.

On September 27th, Black released a lengthy statement where he confirmed asking for his release:

“I did indeed ask for my release, the last 2 years of my life have lended to a lot of set backs. Both me and my wife have been affected by uncontrollable actions from outside that resulted in loss of life, medical set backs, career jeopardizing, the suicide of a close friend and a close family member almost losing their life, then experiencing an injury that I was sure was the end of my career.”

Later in his statement, Black clarified a previous statement by saying that he was given time off by AEW’s Owner/President Tony Khan.

“I’ve been given time off by Tony Khan to take care of a bunch of stuff. All this stuff was weeks ago. I posted that statement as a summary to understand why I [am taking] some time off. It is in the statement. It’s mind-boggling.”

In an update on Black’s current status, the leader of the House of the Black stable posted a video on Twitter of himself while also showing his stable members Brody King, Buddy Matthews and Julia Hart.

After AEW All Out, Black was in a match two weeks later against Kidd Bandit for Prestige Wrestling. It’s currently unknown when Black might return to AEW.
