Malakai Black Teases AEW Exit
Malakai Black competed in a six-man tag team match at AEW All Out in Chicago and after the match was over, Black teased that he might be leaving the company.
The House of Black trio consisting of Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews (with Julia Hart) faced the team of Sting, Darby Allin & Miro in the second last match at All Out. During the chaotic action, the finish saw “The Icon” Sting spray the dreaded black mist in Black’s eyes just like Black has done to many wrestlers and then Darby Allin applied the Last Supper pinning maneuver to get the pinfall win over Black.
There have been rumors from before All Out that Black asked for his release from the company. Black apparently signed a five-year deal with AEW in July 2021. It was reported by Raj Giri of WrestlingIc that Black was concerned about his mental health and wasn’t happy about how his character was presented in AEW.
In an update on Black’s situation, Fight Select reported that things had been “smoothed over to some degree” regarding Black’s relationship with AEW management.
During an off-camera moment at All Out, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer noted that Black blew a kiss to the Chicago crowd and took a bow. The implication is that it could be Black’s way of telling the crowd that the Dutch star was leaving the company soon. You can see Black’s gesture to the crowd below.
Very weird ending for Malakai Black. I don't think this part aired. I feel like he knows something we don't know. #AEWAllOutpic.twitter.com/Xu2AJ4cZBB

When Tony Khan was asked about Black’s gesture during the post-All Out press conference, Khan dismissed the question saying he “can’t comment on that” and moved on.
Black has been married to WWE’s Zelina Vega since 2018. They were married while they both worked for WWE.
