Major Star Needs Clearance From WWE Legal Ahead Of Return

Triple H WWE

A major WWE star is no closer to a return.

Back in January, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE. The lawsuit contained allegations of sexual assault and sex trafficking, and although he wasn’t named directly, Lesnar was also implicated.

In the days following the suit, Lesnar’s planned return at the Royal Rumble was scrapped, and all creative plans dropped.

On May 30th, an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York filed a notice of appearance in the Janel Grant v. WWE, McMahon, Laurinaitis case. The lawsuit is being paused pending a “non-public investigation.” It’s previously been reported that McMahon was under federal investigation for sex trafficking and sexual assault.

While McMahon and Laurinaitis will never return to the sports entertainment giant, it’s believed Lesnar’s career with the company isn’t over, and he will eventually make a comeback. However, writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed Lesnar would need to be cleared by the company’s legal department, something that hasn’t happened.

Regarding any rumors of Lesnar returning, he has to be cleared by WWE legal (remember WWE is still a defendant in the Janel Grant lawsuit) and that hasn’t happened yet.

WWE Star Still Wants Brock Lesnar Clash

Despite the controversy surrounding Brock Lesnar, Gunther says he’s more than up for a clash with the former World Champion.

A potential match has been brewing between the pair for well over a year, and it’s believed they were due to meet at WrestleMania 40 before Lesnar was removed from creative plans. During a recent interview, Gunther looked back on their famous staredown at the 2023 Royal Rumble and admitted he’d like the match to happen.

With Lesnar absent, Gunther recently won the King of the Ring and as a result, will challenge for the World Championship at SummerSlam.
