WWE’s partnership with TNA could be set to take another step forward.

Over the past few months, WWE’s partnership with TNA has been going from strength to strength as Impact and NXT each see regular invasions from the other side. This has also included stars from each side getting shots at gold, most recently with Joe Hendry unsuccessfully attempting to dethrone Ethan Page in the main event of No Mercy.

On the September 10th edition of NXT, more TNA stars will get a shot at glory as Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel of The Rascalz have secured match for the NXT Tag Team Titles, currently held by Axion and Nathan Frazer. The duo won their chance at gold on September 3rd when they defeated both Gallus and Hank & Tank Ledger.

It has now been reported in Fightful Select that The Rascalz will continue to cross the line for the “next couple of months.” NXT officials are said to be “incredibly happy” with Wentz’ performances and attitude in particular, with the former Nash Carter returning to the developmental brand as a TNA star two years after being fired two years ago.

The Fightful report has prompted speculation that The Rascalz will be the first TNA stars to win WWE gold. The pair have a lot of momentum going into their title bout, as Wentz is the reigning X Division Champion and scored a huge win over his former tag partner Wes Lee at No Mercy. With it looking like their NXT stay will be a lengthy one, a title reign now seems like a possibility.

TNA Gold Will Also Be On The Line On WWE NXT

As well as the Tag Team Title match, Jordynne Grace has announced an open challenge for her TNA Knockouts Championship on the September 10th edition of NXT. While she has defended the title against NXT stars before, the show will mark the first time Grace has put the title on the line in a WWE ring.

The NXT Heritage Cup will also be up for grabs as Charlie Dempsey defends the trophy against Je’Von Evans.
