Major AEW Star Returns On Dynamite

Sting CM Punk AEW

On a huge night for AEW, one of the company’s major stars returned to television for the first time in several weeks as it turned out to be showtime on Dynamite.

Dynamite in San Diego, California saw AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy team with Darby Allin to take on the Gates of Agony. After Cassidy and Allin picked up the victory, the rest of the Mogul Embassy – Brian Cage, Prince Nana, and Swerve Strickland – began to stalk the ring spelling trouble for the popular duo.

That brought out WWE Hall of Famer Sting who hasn’t appeared on AEW television since April 12th and his presence – plus his baseball bat – was enough to keep the Mogul Embassy at bay.

Sting has previously noted that he doesn’t have long left in the company and there have been suggestions that The Icon could look to retire in front of a massive crowd at Wembley Stadium in London, England in August. However, his name has also been linked to a possible retirement tour with fellow WCW legend, Goldberg.

The timing of Sting’s return is also interesting given that Forbidden Door will take place in a few short weeks. The star teamed with Darby Allin and Shingo Takagi at the first Forbidden Door show in 2022 to defeat Bullet Club’s El Phantasmo and The Young Bucks.

While Sting returned to TV on Dynamite itself, Tony Khan announced another imminent return to the company as he confirmed CM Punk will be back on the debut edition of Collision.
