Luchasaurus’ AEW Career In Serious Doubt After Collapse
AEW star Luchasarus was rushed to hospital following a collapse and now there is concern that his illness could mean the end of his career.
Fightful Select reported that Luchasaurus was found by his fiancée after he had collapsed on Friday, September 27th. The star was rushed to the hospital where his blood oxygen level had dropped to below 80%. He was then diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs and was told he was days away from suffering permanent lung damage.
Luchasaurus has been on oxygen since then and was told his recovery should take over a month leaving the status of his immediate in-ring future unclear. And a further update on his condition contains some worrying news.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez shared an update on the AEW star’s condition and it seems things could be a lot worse than previously thought:
I don’t want to say it’s a career-ending issue, but it could be a career-ending issue. He’s not back in the gym and he will not be back in the gym for a while and he’s not going to be back wrestling, probably, for a while. Hopefully, he will be back wrestling in a while.
Apparently, there were complications. He ends up getting this flu and bad oxygen uptake as a result of whatever else, turned into pneumonia. And apparently he’s at high risk for a relapse, is what I was told. The big concern is that after all of this, they’ve been running test after test, and apparently there may be permanent damage.
They found calcification in a heart valve and his body is not producing iron and so he’s got a whole bunch of tests that he apparently has to take. It’s bad. It’s bad enough that he’s out of the hospital, apparently, but he still has to do oxygen.
Who Is AEW’s Luchasaurus?
As one of AEW’s originals, the man best known as Luchasaurus – and now known as Killswitch – is a former AEW Tag Team, TNT, and Trios Champion. He came to prominence in AEW as part of Jurassic Express with Jungle Boy Jack Perry and Marko Stunt and it was with Perry that he captured the AEW Tag Team Title.
However, that partnership split after they lost the gold and Christian Cage brutally turned on Perry. Luchasaurus eventually stuck by the side of Cage and it was Christian Cage who rechristened the star as Killswitch after his own finishing move.
