Lita Names The 2 Former WWE Champions She “Loved” Working With

WWE Hall of Famer Lita reflected on her experiences working with Edge and John Cena during one of the most memorable periods of her career.

Speaking alongside fellow WWE legend Trish Stratus at the 2024 Northern Ireland Comic-Con, Lita looked back on her time as Edge’s on-screen girlfriend during their heated rivalry with Cena over the WWE Championship in the mid-2000s. The former WWE Women’s Champion expressed deep appreciation for the collaborative environment that both Edge and Cena fostered throughout their storyline.

So when I was paired with Edge, it seemed like about a year we faced John Cena, and on the live events as well. What I really loved about that is that both of those guys love being collaborative. Some people really like to take the reins and just tell you what you’re going to do that night, but they were really collaborative.

This collaborative spirit contributed to a unique dynamic between the trio, which only grew stronger over time. She described how their chemistry developed, allowing them to work seamlessly together.

Because we worked together for so long, we had what wrestlers will refer to as that ‘telepathy’, where all you had to do was look at that person and you’d be like, ‘Yeah, I know what you want from me.’

One of the highlights of this period for Lita was the opportunity to embrace her role as a heel, alongside Edge. She credited both Edge and Cena for giving her the space to push boundaries and be more daring with her character.

Being heels at that time was so fun because the more ridiculous, the more entertaining, and John really allowed me especially, but also Edge, we got to be so ridiculous.

Lita spoke about making a possible return to WWE to break a supposed curse that fans say is on the Women’s Tag Team Championship. Lita expressed her desire to return to the ring alongside Trish Stratus so that the two can hold the Women’s Tag Team Title and break the curse, fans believe the titles to be cursed due to the fact Mercedes Mone and Naomi walked out while holding the gold, and injuries to Sonya Deville, Liv Morgan, and Aliyah caused their title reigns to be cut short.
