LA Knight Explains How His “Yeah” Catchphrase Started
LA Knight has explained how “Yeah” became part of his pro wrestling promo routine.
When LA Knight is handed a microphone in on WWE television, fans tend to listen and react loudly when he speaks. Knight usually starts his promos by saying “let me talk to ya” and he’s also known for repeating his name “LA Knight” in an emphatic way.
While LA Knight is a skilled veteran in-ring performer, it’s his ability on the microphone that has really helped him stand out among his peers in WWE, which has led to receiving louder reactions from the fans.
In addition to that, Knight is also known for randomly yelling out “YEAH” during his promos. It is a bit reminder of when Steve Austin started the “WHAT” chants back in 2001 that still exist in WWE, much to the dismay of some people.
During a recent appearance on WWE’s The Bump, LA Knight explained that “YEAH” happened as an accident.
“It was something that just kinda happened somewhat accidentally. Me just walking around the Performance Center the first time around when I was here … this thing should’ve taken off years ago, didn’t get there.”
“I was walking around the Performance Center and they were quoting me. Why? I’m a quotable guy, as you can kinda see. Things were happening, whatever, I’d be walking the halls, they’d say whatever and I’d say, ‘Yeah!’ and it just became a thing.”
LA Knight has a life-changing opportunity ahead of him when he competes in the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match on Saturday, July 1st in London, England. Knight earned a spot in the match by beating Montez Ford. Many people are considering Knight to be the favorite to leave with the coveted briefcase as well.
