LA Knight Reacts To Not Being On WrestleMania 39 Card – “Gotta Keep Moving”
LA Knight is looking back on how he felt about not being a part of the two-night WrestleMania 39 event in Los Angeles.
One of the biggest rising stars in WWE this year is a 20-year veteran named LA Knight, who has caught fire as a guy that gets some of the loudest reactions in WWE. Knight was a heel earlier in the year, but has since become one of the biggest babyfaces on the roster thanks in part to his catchphrases and charisma that he possesses.
Since WrestleMania 39 was on two nights at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, many fans figured that the guy with “LA” in his name would be on the show. Knight was rumored to have some sort of match or segment with Bobby Lashley, but as it turned out, it didn’t happen. Knight wasn’t a part of WrestleMania 39, which took nearly eight hours over two nights.
During an interview with Alex McCarthy of Inside The Ropes, LA Knight addressed not being a part of WrestleMania 39.
“There’s a couple different ways to look at this and I’m sure there’s a lot of people who are probably just like ‘Well, you were only active on the roster since October and WrestleMania is in April. So there’s probably a lot of people who were in that same spot who wouldn’t have been at WrestleMania.’ But there was a big difference there and not to toot my own horn but yeah, there was a whole fever that was starting to pick up around that time.”
“I’d say it was probably early March in that lead-up to WrestleMania. So to hear that and to be aware of that. Then at the last minute [to be told] that there wasn’t going to be anything for me on there, you know, big letdown. At the same time. What can I do? Gotta keep moving. Gotta keep doing my thing.”
“And at the same time, I guess I can also understand the thought might be, ‘Well, this could just be fluke reactions. Maybe this isn’t gonna last. What it’s been three weeks, four weeks or whatever since these reactions have been starting to pick up…Maybe it’s just a flash in the pan, flavor of the month. It’s gonna go away’ And here we are, months and months later. More than a half year later, and it’s only picked up and pitched.”
LA Knight Is Likely Going To Face The Miz At WWE Payback
Since LA Knight’s big Battle Royal win at SummerSlam, he has had to deal with The Miz, who is jealous of Knight’s rise to the top.
Their issues continued this past Friday on Smackdown when LA Knight faced Austin Theory in a match where the winner would receive a US Title match. Knight clotheslined Miz out of the ring and Theory did a rollup while grabbing the tights for the cheap win.
It’s expected that Smackdown’s LA Knight and Raw’s The Miz are expected to have a match at WWE Payback in two weeks on Saturday, September 2nd. It’s not official yet, but it’s going to happen at that show.
